BUSINESS MEETING OF MAY 14TH, 2008
The meeting was called to order by President Dale Ties. The minutes were read and approved. Marc gave the treasurer’s report, which was filed for audit.
The Thompson Propbusters club has voted in favor of letting MARCS members use their field for $2400 a year. Previously they voted against it. One of the reasons they voted against it is that they felt they needed to get the owners approval first and that has been done. There was some heated discussion at the Thompson meeting about this proposal. Dale says that because some there are against it and because it would cost $2400 for only a few MARCS members who would take advantage of flying there, the board is recommending that we don’t approve it at this time. A motion was made and passed to table the proposal and send it out to the members so we could discuss it at the next meeting.
Dale and Dave are urging everyone to look for fields and talk to the owners to see if the have any interest. If we get any prospects they will check it out further.
May 17th we are flying at Debonne Winery form 12:00to 5:00
June 1st we are having a fun fly with American Airlines. Setup is the 31st. It will be potluck so bring something. A signup was sent around for this. We will provide burgers, hotdogs and drinks. A motion and passed to buy a new grill for up to $400.
We will have a workday on the 24th at 10:00 to paint, fix tables and clean out the shed.
The race made $1000 last year. They are thinking about racing Thursday through Sunday this year. JR and Horizon gave $4000 in workers prizes last year. Posters were handed out.
